I miss you all!!! I have received emails and texts about my absent blog postings. I apologize for dropping off the cyber scene but I have been busy with something special for you.
Happy Valentine's Day!!
When I was in grade school the students would exchange Valentine's Day cards and candy for everyone in their classroom. I see that things have changed a little concerning what we give and receive on Valentine's. I was talking to a younger cousin about the whole hype around this day. He was sharing with me how he wanted to get something special for his girlfriend. As he was searching for her he wondered what she would give him in exchange for her balloons, flowers and chocolates. I sat quietly as he talked and then asked him, "What do you want from her?"
"I was hoping she would give me some." The boldness of his response startled me a little but then I realized I was talking to a 19 year-old.
"Okay, let me see if I have this straight, you want her to have sex with you in exchange for some balloons and chocolate?!"
We dialogued a little longer about the whole idea but I have to say I was pretty disappointed in his thinking. What is even sadder is that he along with other guys and girls don't see anything wrong with the "exchange." GITK family, I want to caution you:
"REAL LOVE doesn't require/expect that you give anything in return."
